He has performed approximately 4000 surgeries for bph by thulium laser technique. Thulium laser is the latest technology useful for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, bladder cancer, stricture urethra etc. It resects the prostatic tissue by enucleation as well as evaporation.

Enucleation can resect prostate in toto with very minimal bleeding. As normal saline is used for irrigation, there is no risk of the life threatening turp syndrome. As thulium laser can also be used for evaporation of prostate, it is very useful tool for the patients of bph who are on ecosprin and clopidogrel, as there is no risk of bleeding by evaporation technique also there is no sloughing of necrotic tissue as seen in the green light laser.

Pramodini urology foundation also harbours 35 watt evo holmium laser machine (quanta, italy) which is the latest and most advanced holmium laser machine used for urinary stones all over the world. Holmium laser evaporates the stone without any mechanical power, thereby reducing the chances of migration of stones during ureteroscopies & also reduces the requirement of stent, thereby avoiding the long term postoperative discomfort and pain of the stent and also avoiding another procedure of stent removal.

We started pune’s 1st 7.5 french flexible ureteroscope (by carl storz – the flex ex ii) for retrograde internal surgery in 2010 by easy access of the pelvicalyceal system through urethra. Another milestone was achieved in 2020 when disposable flexible ureteroscopy was started using biorad disposable ureteroscope. It has enhanced the accessibility and the surgery into different cycles of kidney (branches) to clear the renal stones. It has superb clarity of vision and great maueverability. It can reach almost every calyx of the kidney and the laser can evaporate the stone

To access all these hitech equipment, one needs an endocamera with very high resolution. The latest striker 1688 3 chip hd camera was installed in early 2021.

Now the latest dornier sigma machine is installed since 2019 for better success rates of clearing the urinary stones without any surgery and anaesthesia
